A local BDSM group has revised its standards for acceptable and unacceptable play.  Of particular note is the removal of “mask wearing” as a form of breath play and the addition of “Indoor Dining” as edge play.

The group considers edge play to be BDSM activities that require a higher level of informed consent and which are considered risky for newcomers or inexperienced BDSM players.

Likewise needle play, especially including vaccinations, has been moved from “edge play” to “acceptable.”

“The pandemic has really forced us to take a good hard look at what really counts as high risk behavior.  For example, we generally advised against isolating your partner and avoiding public contact with scene members, what we used to call a red flag.  Now we encourage it,” Annette Howe, a spokesperson for the group said.

“The one thing that hasn’t changed is the need to tell people what kind of play is acceptable and what isn’t,” she added.
